The only real downside at the end of our stay is that we had to leave. If your wondering about the road from rapid city to the campground towing it is a steady climb but we pulled our 28 ft camper w our 2006 f-150 easy enough (not braking any speed records) and made it back down with out issue. We will stay here again if lucky enough to return to the area. The cons, shower pressure in the bathrooms wasn't the best and wifi was spotty but who comes to the Black hills to surf the net anyway? Way too much else to do.

HORSE THIEF CAMPGROUND FOR SALE FULL
Horsethief Lake Campground has sites able to accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs. We offer an assortment of sites, ranging from Tent Sites, Tent Sites with Electricity, Elecrtric & Water Sites and 30 or 50 AMP Full service sites with Electeric, Water and Sewer, which can accomodate any Rigs Big or Small up to 45 Feet. Sites are tucked into a forest of towering ponderosa and lodgepole pine. The campground was quiet during evening hours the entire time we stayed. This campground is 2 miles from Mount Rushmore National Memorial and adjacent to Horsethief Lake. The kids loved it here as much as we did. The views are amazing, pool always warm, and centrally located to just about everything. The camp site was a little tight but far superior to just about everything else we seen in the area. There is reasonably priced laundry on site. The owners were friendly, helpful and exceptionally kind to our kids.
Horsethief Campground is also near the Gemini Bridges Road and the Mineral Bottom Boat Ramp. Groups heading into Canyonlands to ride the White Rim trail often use this site for camping before and after their trip. We had a pull thru site with water, electric and sewer. Arches and Canyonlands National Parks as well as Dead Horse Point State Park are within a 15-minute drive.
